Monday - 5 miles
Left the house around 6:10 AM. Had thought about running on the track earlier, but have to pick and choose my early mornings. Run was great and I felt tons better than yesterday. Helps so much that is light and sunny in the mornings...very motivating. Supposed to be a beautiful week.
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday - 1 hour swim
We did more longer swims today--250's and 200's. It was good. Tried to work on form too.
Thursday - Power and Biked 35 minutes
Almost decided to sleep in, but knew I should go. Power gets better with each week which was the case today. I am slowly increasing my weight. Biking on the stationary bike is not my favorite, but it was fine.
Friday - Ran 3 miles
I had to bring Hailey to school at 6 AM. I ran afterwards. I felt way more tired than usual and my allergies were bad. As the day went on, I realized it was not allergies but a bad cold. Kara had the same thing and had a fever in the afternoon. I didn't feel like doing anything after 4:30. I have an appetite...just really tired. Ears plugged, sore throat, and nasal congestion. I took a Sudafed PM to help with sleep.
Saturday - Rest
Felt pretty good when I woke up. Took the kids to the race and felt OK there. Felt worse as the day went on. Kara felt feverish again after lunch. I felt feverish with chills around 2 PM. I slept for a half hour and felt better when I woke up. Ears still plugged off and on, throat not as bad, and congestion. Originally I hoped to bike this afternoon, but the weather is awful. I just still feel fatigued. I will probably take tomorrow off as well.

April 21-28
So glad last week is behind me. This week is lighter. I feel like I can breathe again...though I am tired.
Monday - Rest
Kids did not have school and I had no child care kids either. Decided to sleep in.
Tuesday - Ran 5 miles
Amazing 5 mile run at 7:15 PM. It is staying lighter later and I love it. I might be doing evening runs earlier in the week instead of early morning depending on the week. Maybe evening bike ride once the weather is a bit nicer. It only rained about five minutes and not too hard.
Wednesday - Swam 1 hour
The constant rain is making everyone stir crazy. It was not a bad day at all, but a hard afternoon. I feel wiped out because of it. Swimming was great this morning and so thankful I got there. The workout was really what I needed. The pool was busy and I shared lane with the doctor from the hospital who comes. We kept hitting eachother. But I need to get used to swimming in close quarters. The people there from the triathlon club think I will have no big problems doing an open water tri this summer. I really hope I can do it.
Thursday - Power and ran approx. 3 miles on treadmill
Power was so much better than last week. I could have my weight slightly increased on most tracks and did fine. I ran at a slower pace afterwards on the treadmill and that went fine too. Good workout.
Friday - Group Ride
Early morning was the only time today I could work out unless I wanted to go Friday night at like 8:30 PM which I didn't. Ride was fine.
Saturday - Brick workout: Bike to the gym (about 3 miles), Swam 25 minutes, Longer bike ride home (about 4 1/2 miles)
I biked to the gym and it was a little bit of a misty rain. My swim workout was 500 (mostly free, but a few back), 100 kick, and 4 x 50 speed swims. I can do 50 in a minute now--most of the time it is a 1 minute and 3-4 seconds. I biked home in clips which I will be honest is still a little scary and I am not fully confident. I do need more practice in order to be safer. However, going up hills is so much better in clips versus shoes and I like the feel of it better. It's the whole process of "unclipping" at lights and then clipping back in that I am not as predictable with...it takes me a couple tries to clip back in. However, I think I can do it again and I'm trying to find good routes where there aren't a lot of traffic lights. I will probably bike at Minto this week if weather is decent.
Sunday: Long Run - 9 miles
So glad I waited until 4:00 PM to run because the weather was awful in the morning--cold, windy, rain, and hail. It was still pretty windy, but no rain and not nearly as cold. I did a mix of the Sumpter and Welcome Way neighborhood and was on Commerical quite a ways. It was tough at first--I didn't really feel strong the first five miles. Lots of side aches and fatigue. I only walked up one of the Browning hills which was near the end.

April 14 - 20
It's a brand new week. As wonderful as the weather was last week (and starting to turn today) and perfect for running and bike rides--I took the week off. I was SO tired after family left, my allergy medicine was making me drowsy, and I just needed to get caught up on things that never got done after I came home from LA. This week is "the perfect storm" week for me as I have something every afternoon & evening--so I am trying to keep my mornings low key and open. I am skipping Moms Next this morning. As fun as it is, I am usually tired from it when I come home. So far this week is going OK with all the extra stuff and I am doing OK too mentally.
Monday - Ran 3 miles
Really good run. I think the break helped. I felt really strong running and pushed myself to keep my speed up.
Tuesday - Rest
Did not rest due to lack of motivation. Tuesday has been working really well as my "day off."
Wednesday - Swam 1 hour 5 minutes
Good to be back in the pool again. Some of our crew was missing, but the workout was good. It was a lot of 200s and 300s which I like better than the speed swims. Felt great to be there again. My friend thinks I will have no problem doing an open water tri this summer--still kind of questioning it but really want to do it.
Thursday - Group Power & Bike 35 minutes
Wow Power hurt! And there was a sub and she just didn't have the energy as the previous instructors. I struggled on just about every single track. Biking afterwards was fine.
Friday - Ran 3 miles
It was a pretty busy Friday and busy weekend in general--but I was able to sneak in a 3 mile run in around 4:45 PM. I mapped out a new mile route through the Welcome Way neighborhood. More hilly than my regular route, but not too bad.
Saturday - Swam 40 minutes
Not enough time for a brick workout so focused on swimming. Good workout. Followed a workout off swim plan and also focused on form.
Sunday - Ran 5 miles
Good Easter run in the morning before church! Regular five mile route and perfect weather too.

April 7 - 13
Monday - Hiked approximately four miles
I kind of have been neglecting this blog. With being away for Spring Break and having my sister here which felt like a second Spring Break--we've not had much of a normal routine and schedule for 2 1/2 weeks. Last Saturday my brother-in-law and I did the Beaver Freezer tri which was awesome! My time was very similar to Stayton last spring--but I felt much more confident and the swim went amazingly better. I will probably blog about it later.
Not sure what's next. Maybe 1-2 more triathlons this summer or spring? I have an idea of something I want to do in September, but feel like if I start planning it I might jinx it. As silly as that sounds. :)
Yesterday my sister and her family & I with the kids hiked about four miles (they did more like five) of the 10 waterfalls trail in Silver Falls. Rob & I had done the whole thing before a couple summers ago. They loved it and it was so fun taking them there.
Tuesday - Rest
Wow--we are SO tired and exhausted...and crabby. We NEED rest, downtime, and early bedtimes. :)

March 31 - April 7
Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Ran 3 miles
Good 3 mile run while Kara was at Christina's. Super busy crazy Tuesday and I crashed by 9:15 PM. Yuck.
Wednesday - Swam 45 minutes
I decided to 3/4 of the workout because I had to do a Banner interview at 7 AM. Plus I don't want to push myself too hard with Freezer on Saturday. It was great to be in the pool and we have this nice little group of 5-6 swimmers now--one guy with five ladies. I really want to do track workouts again but my own workouts. They aren't posting them on line anymore--I think the run coordinator stepped down. I may workout at the same time as the triathletes and do their warm up, but then do my own workout. I think it will still help me get faster, but I won't be biting off more than I can chew.
