Week #10

Monday = Rest
I am thrilled to be in Week #10 and things have gone super well.  I don't what's going on with my left shin.  It doesn't feel like shin splints and I think it could be tendonitis.  I don't know what tendonitis feels like so I have very little to go on.  It is tender to the touch and sore.  When I run, it kind of hurts.  But it doesn't hurt much more when than when I walk around or even sit.  It took Advil this morning and it didn't really do much.  Ice seems to bring some relieve.  It seems to worse in the morning and at night.  There were a lot of times during the day it did not really bother me.  I am still going to run tomorrow.  If running becomes super painful, I will stop.  I feel like it is something that will eventually just go away (I hope!). I feel like I strained something last week and it will take some time to fully heal.

Tuesday = Ran 7 miles

I did run 7 miles and it was rough at times.  I felt like I had no momentum and had to walk get up hills.  My anxiety level was also so high.  My shin hurt most of the time. I was a little surprised because it was actually feeling better during the day. It hurt the most when I got home and was walking home.  I was pretty upset because I don't know the severity of this injury and I don't know what it means for my race.

Wednesday = Swam about 1300 yards

I swam with my friends.  I asked Erica about my injury.  She said to ice it before I run and reduce my mileage. It hurt a lot throughout the day.

Thursday = Group Ride

I went to Ride for about 40 minutes. I could not stay the whole class because I had to go to work early.  But I was glad I was motivated to get there.  My shin is still hurting.  It goes in and out.

Friday = Ran 3.5 miles

Well my ankle hurt during the whole run but it was not excruciating.  It stayed the same...at times even a little better...during the whole run.  I could have gone longer but I promised myself I would reduce my mileage.  I think it actually hurt way more on Tuesday.  I iced it afterwards and that helped.  Then I put heat on it at night.  The extra stretching has helped too.  If it stays like this, I should be fine.  I am hoping it improves.

Saturday = Walking

I did the Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention and we also walked around Willamette Mission State Park.  My ankle was hurting so I iced it after both walks and that brought relieve.

Sunday = 10 miles with a pace of with around 10 minute miles

I managed to get 10 miles which I was pretty excited about.  My goal was 8 but I added the extra two on.  It did not feel too painful.  The discomfort in my ankle was there the whole run but it did not get piercing.  I felt better than I did on Tuesday.  It hurt A LOT afterwards.  I iced it but I was still limping all night.

Week #8 and Week #9

I can't keep up with this blog on a regular basis but I am still trying to document my workouts.  I am officially registered for the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon!!  I am praying I will be able to complete it and my knee will continue to stay strong.  I am reminded of training for CIM because it was a winter marathon as well.  I did my long runs in the late fall.

Here's Week #8

Monday = Rest
Tuesday = Ran 7 miles at an average pace of 9:53.  I did not feel that great during the run.  I realized why.  I went on with a friend Tuesday night.  I had a decreased appetite.  When I got home, I did not feel the greatest.  I went to bed at 9 PM so I would not miss work.  It turned out to be a nasty cold.
Wednesday = Ran intervals at the park--4 miles.  I skipped swimming because my cold was nasty.  I did not want to wake up early.  I did an easy interval run at the park.  Kara came with me and rode her bike.
Thursday = Weights at the gym
Friday = Rest.  I was going to go to Ride but I still felt sick.  I opted to rest.
Saturday = 35 minute stationary bike.  I kept it pretty light and easy because I wanted to do the long run on Sunday.
Sunday = 13 miles!!  Average pace of 9:52.  I honestly felt good most of the run.  I took nutrition along and electrolytes.  I had very little pain.

And Week #9  It's a kick back week.
Monday = Rest.
Tuesday = Ran 5 miles with an average pace of 9:41.  And I saw three deer on Holder!
Wednesday = Swam about 1000 yards...probably a little more
Thursday & Friday = Rest...it is so hard with Rob out of town.  It is so busy and hard to get up in the morning.  I hate missing workouts.  At the same time I can't do everything.  It is a kick back week anyway.
Saturday = I ran the Stride 5k in Riverfront Park.  When I crossed the finish line it was under 24 and I was excited I PRed.  Then they said that the clock was not working right and to add two minutes.  Which was a bummer.  I still was under 26 which is pretty fast.  I have a minor injury on my good leg (my left).  It is between my knee and ankle on the lateral side.  If I had to diagnose it myself I would think it is tendonitis.  I think I got it when I ran Sunday but I felt it the worst on Monday or Tuesday when I wore my boots all day.  I am still running because it honestly does not hurt that bad.  It feels more sore if anything.  I need to keep an eye on it.
Sunday = Ran 5 miles.  My left thigh still hurts but I ran anyway.  It hurt at times during the run but it did not hurt intensely.  The former IT band pain hurt way more.  I need to keep any eye on it.
