March catch up
I haven't really been keeping up my exercise blog, but I have been exercising even with travel. I probably dropped to 3-4 times a week the last two weeks. I honestly can't remember what I did when. I am back from LA and did an amazing 6 mile run in Santa Monica on the ocean walk path. Amazing. Also last week I went on the stationary bike at Great Wolf Lodge and ran the day before we left in the evening. That was all last week--although also did lots of walking in LA and Santa Monica. This week is also a lighter week as I'm doing Beaver Freezer on Saturday. But still planning on doing somewhat regular workouts. I feel ready. Wish I would have done a little workouts the last two weeks, but I think I'll be OK.

March 10 - 16
Monday - Track Workout
I actually went to the track workout today. The workout was 2 mile warm up, 2 x 800, 1600, 2 x 800, 2 x 400, 1 mile cool down. Because these people are so stinking fast and elite runners, my workout was 3/4 mile warm up, 2 x 800, 1600, 2 x 800, and about a one mile cool down (might have been 1200--I stopped keeping track). It was nice to run in the early morning and get it out of the way and on the track nonetheless. Angie was there again and I had good talk with her during the warm up. The downside is these people are fast and I think they are faster they were before. Usually the warm up they are slow where I can keep up no problem and hold a conversation. I was huffing and puffing. Usually I am only a lap or two behind them--not like 3 or 4. And normally I can run with them during the cool down. This time I could not keep up with them on the cool down. I let them all go ahead. And normally they run just a mile cool down. This time they were still running as I left. So not sure if they are intensifying the workouts or what. I am not going to lie and say I feel a little inferior with my slower pace and not being able to complete the full workout. On the other hand I am out there and I'm running. It is nicer than running alone. It is a nice safe place to run on a Monday morning. I am not sure the track is available at any other time with track teams practicing. So throw off your perfectionist and inferior hat, Amy, and keep going and stop worrying about what others think. :)
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday - Swam 1 hour
Pretty normal workout. Normal warm up with a mix of 250's, 100's, and 50's--it was good.
Thursday - Power and stationary bike half hour
I woke up at 4 AM to one of the kids coughing. But my anxiety level was really high. I HATE it when this happens during the night. My mind just kept racing and I could not calm myself down. I would not label it a panic attack, but I can't relax my body. Plus I was SO wide awake. There was no way I could never fall back asleep--by the time I would it would be time to wake up. With even with school being off today, Abby was still getting dropped off at 7. So I left for the gym at the normal time and went to Power and biked afterwards. I had increase energy because I could lift more weight than normal at Power. I just am really tired and this day has been go, go, go and I can't skip Bible Study again. I think I am just cranky because the kids have a day off, but I really don't. :( I feel like I need a day off to get caught up. I gave up complaining and griping about my schedule for Lent and I have done super well, but this still stinks.
Friday - Ran 4 miles
It's like over a week later as I'm writing this so I am trying to remember last week's exercise. I did the 4 mile Skyline route which is pretty hilly. It went well. I only had to walk about 30 seconds at the top of a hill.
Saturday - Ran about 1 hour
I ran Pre's trail in Eugene which was totally awesome. I stopped and took pictures and I did walk a little bit so I could really enjoy it. Awesome weather too!
Sunday - Shamrock 5K
I did the Shamrock 5K with Hailey. So thrilled to do a big race like Shamrock with her. She got 40:11 and only took little walk breaks. She was in good spirits at the finish.

March 3 -9
Monday - Ran 4 miles
I skipped the track workout because I had three articles due which was a bit overwhelming at the time. I still got up at 5, but didn't get out of bed until 5:30. I ran and then was able to do a little writing and get a jumpstart on it before kids got up. Good run Not too rainy and fairly warm. I could run in shorts.
Tuesday - Rest
Love Tuesday rest days!
Wednesday - Swam 1 hour
Kristin brought a workout and it was pretty simple. Lots of 100's--I cut some down to 50's. I shared a lane with the girl who came a couple weeks ago and kept wanting to borrow my pull buoy. She was really sweet today and I enjoyed talking to her briefly. The pool was pretty busy again. Hailey has been sick since Monday afternoon and her temp climbed to 103. She has not been this sick since she was like 3 years old. Poor girl. The GEMS girls made her card and tote bag and prayed for her--I was so touched I almost cried. I think it's mostly due to PMS, but so many things are making me cry--I feel like a basket case. I was listening to an old Jars of Clay song yesterday and started crying.
Thursday - Power & biked 27 minutes
Good morning and great to be back at Power. Jen is gone now and not teaching anymore. I really liked her. I do like Sarah as well--she explains things well and is pretty chipper--but not obnoxious. I biked afterwards instead of ran. Hailey still sick and staying home from school again. Still feverish and no appetite.
Friday - Group Ride
I am naturally waking up early again--feels nice to have my body programmed to rise and shine (though not always shining). Ride was good, but I did not overly push myself as hard because I feel sore from the some of the workouts earlier in the week. Really obnoxious guy in the class that kept talking and cracking jokes and saying things that were not funny--started to get annoying. I think the teacher was trying to laugh, but nor give him extra attention--kind of looked like she wished he would shut up. It was a good workout though and I am glad I made it there. Hopefully Hailey is better this morning and can go to school. No one else got it yet that we know of. I hadn't seen her that sick in awhile. So glad she had no fever last night and finally ate a meal. It's hard when your kids are sick.
Saturday - Brick Workout: Swam 25 minutes, Run 25 minutes
My birthday! Really good swim. Did a modified version of what we do Wednesday mornings. I ran on the treadmill at a slightly slower speed than normal and no incline--I actually enjoyed running on the treadmill versus hating every minutes of it. Originally I hoped to run outside, but the weather was too nasty.
Sunday - Ran 7 miles
I decided to run right after church instead of morning. Getting up was hard because of daylight savings. Plus the weather improved as the day went on. It was nice and warm--ran in shorts and a t-shirt. I ran around the Wes Bennet neighborhood, up Sunnyside, and finishing off in the neighborhood behind Salem Swim & Tennis. Good run! No rain at all--just cloud cover.
